Impractical Fashion

I keep seeing all this blogs about fashion and I often wonder What are the designers thinking. I'm no fashion blogger or expert but I am a consumer, and a practical one at that.
This doesn't mean I leave my house in yoga pants because I don't and for the record I don't use sneakers, ever, only to the gym and If I absolutely have to. I have a hate of sneakers I cannot even describe.
But here is the thing, for someone that does like fashion and recently lost a lot of weight, I don't get it. I do understand fashion shows. One thing is a swimming suit for a fashion show, and a whole another different thing is when it hits the street and people actually use it. Here's what I mean:

Cute? yes. Practical? no. Don't get me wrong, I do like them. I might even consider wearing one, to an indoor pool maybe, but to the beach? No way in hell. I do not want this type of tan lines. But hey, that's just me.

Busy bee!

So obviously I've been busy. I haven't forgotten about my blog or my few readers. I have been working and studying and trying to practice any chance I got.
If you have any friends or you yourself would like to get pampered, send me an email, or FB message. You can also try and call, but during working days I cannot answer my phone when I'm working with patients or clients.
At this time I'm offering:

Facial treatments: cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation (scrub or chemical peel), mechanical cleansing or extractions (removal of impurities like blackheads), facial massage, mask and final application.
Eyelash and eyebrow tinting
Eyelash extensions

I must say that studies here in Finland are very different from studies in other countries. I read in a blog that cosmetologist specialize in hair. This is so not the case here. We do almost everything except hair! I mean we study anatomy and physiology, chemistry and raw materials, and all about different therapies and treatments like pedicure (and yes we do take hard skin with a scalpel), manicure, facial treatments, body treatments, make-up and beauty, business, etc.
Our studies are more in line with what an esthetician does ... What are the studies like abroad?

Practice makes Perfect...

Or so I hope! So finally I started practicing more and I'm way more happy!
Thank God for the good friends helping me either by practicing on them or getting me models to practice on. =D
All in all, here's a picture of my improvised spa at home... hope you like it! and if you would like a facial, manicure, eyelash extensions or tinting, let me know, I might just be your gal.

On eyelash extensions...

Today I took a professional course on eyelash extensions, while it has become more and more common, here in Finland is very common (and almost a requirement for certified cosmetologists), in fact one of the most common countries in the whole of the E.U.
There's two different techniques which are used here and today we got the basic, meaning the classic training, once we're good at it, then we can learn the second one.

So it was very interesting, the trainer, a certified aesthetician, was so patient and I could tell she teaches because she loves to and not for the money (which was not too much, it was student rate for the materials and the course was actually free).

I unfortunately do not have pictures of my model being that her lashes are not ready yet, they will be later this week, and maybe with her consent I will post a picture later. However I will be needing models to practice, and will charge a very small amount, just enough to cover my materials and my time. So if you're considering getting eyelash extensions, feel free to contact me, they will last 3-4 weeks and I'll be happy to answer any doubts you might have.

Here's a picture of what they should look like once I get the hang of it, borrowed from the internet, not my own! It's not that I'm far from it, just takes me a long time, which thankfully I have...

Time for romance

I love my hubby! since last time I was so ticked off, my hubby saw my blog and he new how frustrated I was by the whole ordeal... there's one thing he hates and that's buying flowers, because he has never understand the purpose, since the go bad so fast, he rather give something more lasting like a watch, maybe that MK handbag I had my eye on, but this time, for the first time in 9 years we've been married, he went out of his comfort zone and did the one thing I like and got me these:

Love you babe! Thank you for lighting up my day!

Ticked off

I'm sick, I have a nasty flu that has made me full of snot, a very sore throat and headaches. So I thought this might be a good chance to look online for weekend getaways. I love to organize this small trips with time. However I got something against me and that is the hubby. Because he works shifts he doesn't believe in booking well ahead of time, so now I go to the British Airlines website to check for flights for either the weekend of May 1st of May 14th (since this last one includes my birthday) and obviously either there are no flights available with my miles or with money I'm required to pay an insulting amount of money. This ticks me off.
I did check other airlines and the story is the same everywhere. I even checked different destinations. I have the days off, and guess what? Look like I'm going nowhere.... :(

Happy Easter you all!

Ok, so here's a fact about me: I'm not a super religious person, I don't go to church often, just on special occasions. But I do have a very deep belief in God, I'm a christian just not so much of a catholic. The difference I make between this two is that Catholics follow the church, believe in it. Anyway you won't hear me (or read me) talking about religion or politics because it's not something I usually talk about, and this is because I, myself don't like people that talk excessively about religion or try to impose their beliefs on you. But on Easter, I am reminded of what I believe on, of the good in people, of the things that we should appreciate, my family. This is a day I try to reflect on, and not be so materialistic (because the truth is, sometimes I am). So no matter what religion you are, today I wish you all a Happy Easter, think of what you have, not what you don't. Appreciate life. Appreciate love. I leave you all with this beautiful video a friend of mine posted on FB.

So this is the result...

Hullut Päivät or crazy days... Finally the stuff I won at the MetroHelsinki radio contest arrived, here's a picture of my new stuff. The bathrobe, Armani Jeans jacket and Ted Baker handbag I won and the Michael Kors sandals I bought for myself. I feel so lucky!

And of course it had to pass inspection first... =)

What do you think? Do you approve?

Healthy vs. Tasty?

For all of you that don't know me, I'm no health freak au contraire, I love my sweets. I was never one for the veggies, in fact, I learned to eat veggies as an adult, heck I'm still learning, and I refuse, refuse and refuse to eat cucumber! everyone's favourite, which I absolutely hate, and yes, you read that right, I HATE CUCUMBER. Why? well believe me, I hate the taste. People keep telling me, it tastes like water, it doesn't taste like nothing. I say Taste like water my a*s. I kid you not, I taste it, it makes me literally sick.
Anyway, I've been trying to balance healthy snacks with good tasting snacks. And now I require your opinion... Do you think this is healthy?

White bread, cherry tomatoes, cheese (17%). Condiments: salt, pepper & a bit of olive oil.

What do you think? what do you love/hate?

Sunday plans...

The hubby is off to work (sick and all) and to be perfectly honest I'm lazy. So today, I'm following my cats example... I plan to do absolutely nothing but delight myself with icecream and berries and geekery! Happy Funday you all!
